A Florida judge on Wednesday struck down a portion of a redistricting map drawn by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and his employees.
Driving the news: "I am finding that the enacted map is unconstitutional beneath the Honest District modification ... because it diminishes African Americans' ability to elect the representatives of their selection," Leon County Circuit Choose Layne Smith stated.
Smith is expected to situation a proper order on Thursday or Friday to ensure that the maps aren't in effect throughout November's election, AP reviews.Why it issues: DeSantis' plan dismantles the North Florida seat now held by a Black Democrat.
