A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities said.

In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it had discovered earlier that day of a "threatening text message" despatched by a scholar at an elementary faculty.

It mentioned its native faculty risk enforcement staff was instantly notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office mentioned.

In video shared by authorities, the boy may be seen being led right into a police car.

“This scholar’s habits is sickening, especially after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno mentioned in a statement, noting that the risk came just days after the deadly college taking pictures at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two academics lifeless.

“Proper now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This little one made a faux menace, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

Marceno stated his crew “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Could 24 school shooting after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup as a substitute of instantly shifting in on the gunman.
