A California district attorney declined to file fees Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police studies and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Office concluded its evaluation of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane whereas waiting on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe stated in an announcement.

"Our choice is that we will not file any expenses against Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, as well as the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no expenses be filed on this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file charges by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
