Taliban chief orders girls to wear all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the nation’s girls to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on ladies’s lives since the Taliban seized power.

“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is conventional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“These girls who should not too outdated or younger should cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, as a way to keep away from provocation when assembly men who should not mahram (adult shut male relatives),” the decree said.

It added that if girls had no essential work outside it was “higher they keep at home.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on ladies.
