Taliban leader orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the nation’s ladies to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives because the Taliban seized energy.

“They should put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is conventional and respectful,” stated a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.

“Those girls who usually are not too previous or young should cowl their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, in an effort to keep away from provocation when meeting men who aren't mahram (adult close male relations),” the decree stated.

It added that if girls had no vital work outside it was “higher they keep at dwelling.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on women.
