Nashville Public Library launches ‘Freedom to Learn’ campaign

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It's a topic that's taken hold in Tennessee: books like "Maus" or "Walk Two Moons" have been pulled from cabinets.

While those books is perhaps banned from some colleges, there's still elsewhere yow will discover them.

"Our job is just to make sure that in order for you it, it is here for you," mentioned Public Info Officer for the Nashville Public Library, Ed Brown.

"'Maus' is all checked out proper now," stated Brown. "So we got extra copies on order however as soon as word received round about what occurred in McMinn County, we received a lot of holds."

These are just some of the two million different materials on the Nashville Public Library.

The goal is to get the 5,000 library cards within the palms of latest sign-ups this month.

"We are not attempting to be a push back — a drive pushing back towards these decisions — we need to be a substitute for say, when you could not be capable of get it there... you can get it right here," said Brown.
