Depp sued Heard, his ex-wife, for defamation over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post wherein she described herself as a "public determine representing home abuse." Heard kept her eyes down as the verdict was read. Depp was not current in courtroom, however released a statement that said, partially, "the jury gave me my life back."
"From the very starting, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the reality, whatever the end result. Talking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those that have remained steadfast of their help of me," he said. "I really feel at peace realizing I've lastly achieved that."
Outside court docket, Depp's attorneys thanked the jurors, the decide and court employees after the decision Wednesday, including that "it is time to flip the page and look to the future."
