Talking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until I really feel higher in regards to the direction of our nation."

"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that when you're dissatisfied with your country, you let it be known by way of protest. The home of the courageous ought to encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the United States.Kerr refused to discuss basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Warriors' sequence against the Dallas Mavericks, instead raising his voice as he railed towards gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.
"In the final 10 days, we've had elderly Black folks killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have now youngsters murdered at college," Kerr informed reporters firstly of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so uninterested in getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated families which can be out there ... I am uninterested in the moments of silence. Enough."
