Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I feel better about the route of our country."

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the lack of supply of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I might have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that once you're dissatisfied along with your country, you let or not it's recognized through protest. The house of the brave ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion against gun violence in america.

Kerr refused to discuss basketball forward of Game 4 of the Warriors' collection towards the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
