Gabe Kapler: ‘I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I really feel higher in regards to the route of our nation’

Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I feel better about the route of our country."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked dad and mom making an attempt to organize to charge in to stop the shooter, together with a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are more essential than our children's freedom to go to highschool without having bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the lack of supply of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I might have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that once you're dissatisfied along with your country, you let or not it's recognized through protest. The house of the brave ought to encourage this."

Kerr refused to discuss basketball forward of Game 4 of the Warriors' collection towards the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"In the last 10 days, we've had elderly Black people killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've children murdered in school," Kerr informed reporters at the start of the press conference.

"When are we going to do something? I am drained. I am so bored with getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families which can be out there ... I'm bored with the moments of silence. Sufficient."
