Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage Tuesday night time as he carried out at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl arena, with videos from audience members' cellphones rapidly flooding social media and exhibiting a person seem to run onto the stage and sort out the comedian.

While the complete debacle was captured in a number of movies shot by members of the audience, cellphone use was officially banned during the efficiency.  

The motivation for the initial assault remained unclear, and there was no speedy response from the Los Angeles Police Department to CBS News' request for information about the incident.

The 48-year-old comic listed three situations for any potential meeting, and responded to fellow comic Hannah Gadsby, who labelled Chapelle's Netflix special "hate speech."

"Should you wanna meet with me, I would be more than willing to, however I've circumstances: To begin with, you can not come if in case you have not watched my special from beginning to finish. You have to come to a spot of my selecting and a time of my choosing. And thirdly, you will need to admit that Hannah Gadsby isn't humorous."
