EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Alabama fugitive Casey White was taken into custody in Indiana, and his suspected confederate, Vicky White, died Monday evening from accidents sustained by a self-inflicted gunshot wound as authorities prepared to arrest the pair, law enforcement sources confirmed.

The pair had been on the run since April 29 when the 56-year-old jailer told the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, that she was transporting the 38-year-old inmate for a psychological evaluation. Instead, they fled.

In accordance with WAAY-TV, the fugitives had been captured after a pursuit ended when the automobile they had been driving crashed.

In line with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff, the police pursuit began when the couple was noticed close to the sheriff’s office and resulted in a rollover crash close to Evansville Regional Airport, WXIN reported.

“We received a harmful man off the street right this moment. He's never going to see the light of day once more, and that’s factor, not just for our neighborhood but that’s factor for this country,” he added.

Evansville is about 175 miles north of Williamson County, Tennessee, the place authorities on Thursday found the orange 2007 Ford Edge the pair used in their April 29 escape, the news outlet reported.
