3 high school graduations across the U.S. end with gunfire in less than 24 hours

Three high school graduation ceremonies ended with pictures fired in separate incidents in Louisiana, Michigan and Tennessee within the span of 24 hours, another sobering example of gun violence impacting everyday lives, including that of teenage college students.

After college students crossed stages to receive their diplomas, chaos ensued with gunfire.

Not less than one individual was killed and 7 others injured in collective shootings that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old gunman in Tennessee.

Pictures were fired Thursday evening around 8:15 p.m as graduates of Hammond High College had been leaving their ceremony held on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana College to meet with their households, police stated.

Four individuals were injured in the gunfire, all with non-life-threatening accidents, Hammond PD Chief Edwin Bergeron Jr stated in a Thursday night information convention. Three were transported to an space hospital.

A suspect was located after a short foot pursuit and brought into custody, Southeastern Louisiana College Police Chief Michael Beckner informed NBC News Friday morning.

Prices are pending because the probe continues and all parties concerned had been adults, Beckner stated.

Police mentioned Thursday no Hammond High School college students are believed to be concerned in the shooting. 

“At this time we do not consider that there were any students concerned, we do not believe any juveniles had been struck in this incident,” Bergeron said.

Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young stated in a Thursday night news convention that folks in two vehicles had been exchanging gunshots.

She said “numerous pictures” had been fired on the scene.

The sheriff's office mentioned two victims within the taking pictures were later situated at area hospitals: a 16-year-old from Texas who was shot within the wrist and is in steady condition and a 40-year-old lady from Grand Rapids who was shot within the wrist and abdomen in critical but steady condition. 

It isn't clear if the victims have been connected to the graduation.

The sheriff’s office believes there have been greater than two individuals opened fire. Initial studies indicate two white sedans with a number of individuals inside fled the scene at a high price of speed, officers said.

Authorities are also asking for witnesses or individuals with video or picture footage of the incident to submit ideas.
